Why is post-catalyzed conversion varnish a poor choice?
The maximum thickness of conversion varnish is normally 3 to (maybe)5 mils. A thickness higher than that and it will crack, chip and peel. Unless one of the painters has a very expensive in-shop computerized spray system how exactly do they know how many mils have been applied? The work on your cabinet cases will be done in your home, how will they measure that? How even is a coat sprayed by hand?
What is Kitchen Cabinet Refurbishment and Why Should You Consider it?
If refacing or refinishing your Kitchen Cabinets is out of your budget you may find Kitchen Cabinet Refurbishment is within your budget.
It costs at most 1/4 the amount you would spend on refacing.
Refurbishing is not simply coming in and cleaning your Kitchen Cabinets, we're a wood care company.
We do clean your Kitchen Cabinets, we have to clean them so we can find the defects and repair them properly.
Kitchen Cabinet Refinishing, What is it and Why should You Consider it?
If you have gotten quotes on Kitchen Cabinet Refacing you know how expensive it is.
Do you really know what you get for your money?
Kitchen Cabinet Refurbishment
Kitchen Cabinet Refurbishment is cleaning, repairing and protecting your existing Kitchen Cabinets.
We use specialized cleaning agents to remove the years of build up on your cabinets. After cleaning & degreasing, the original finish is revealed as well as any blemishes or discoloration. Defects are repaired & sealed then the original finish is rejuvenated and polished. We do far more than a cabinet cleaning company.
Kitchen Cabinet Refinishing
Kitchen Cabinet Refinishing is very similar to furniture refinishing.
We offer cabinet painting too.
Due to the proprietary nature of the process we can't go into great detail in this forum regarding how we do it.
Please know that your home will not smell of noxious/caustic chemicals.
Also know that once your project is complete you will be amazed with the results.
I am interested in cabinet refinishing, how booked are you?
Our schedule varies quite a bit. Typically, we are scheduled a couple of weeks out. You don't have to wait that long for an estimate though, our policy is to be able to meet you for a consultation within 48 hours, if you desire. Sometimes our client's schedules change because life happens, so we may be able to fit you in earlier than mentioned above. Estimates are free, you have nothing to lose.
What is the timeline to refinish/refurbish?
Refurbishing typically takes less than two days and is very non-intrusive, you don't even have to empty your cabinets or drawers. Refinishing requires more explanation since the process is very different from refurbishment. We come in and take your doors with us. We then process the cases right in your home. After the cases have been processed we can then apply the stain & sealer. After that we come back with your doors and put them back. Typically, the process takes less than 5 days. The process is split up, we aren't in your house 5 days straight.
I have heard of refinishing furniture but not a kitchen, explain please.
It's pretty much the same process with a few exceptions. We can explain the difference during a consultation, we have to protect our proprietary process. Suffice it to say your home won't smell of caustic chemicals. Bare in mind you can change the color of your cabinets by refinishing them. With refurbishment you have to keep your original color.
I'm on a budget. Can you elaborate on "refurbishment"?
Simply put, we remove years of grime and grease and then correct cosmetic flaws. Please don't confuse us with a cabinet cleaning company...we do a lot more than clean. After we clean your cabinets we repair scratches, scuffs, steam marks, etc. We also seal in our repair work so it lasts. We can't tell you how we do it in this forum due to the proprietary nature of the process. We can explain it to you in person during a consultation.
What differentiates you from a refacing/replacing company?
First, we don't care for the refacing concept.
Most of those reasons are spelled out on the page dedicated to Kitchen Cabinets.
Of course here's more: Refacing usually ranges between $7,000 and $25,000, and the real shame is that after spending all that money, the refacing part is done by applying what they call a "self adhesive covering," - which in reality is a cardboard thin piece of laminated wood with a sticky back, (so thin in fact, that it is cut with scissors.)
